Joseph C.A. Agbakoba, professor of philosophy at the University of Nigeria, where he was head of philosophy for three years (2007-2010) and Dean, School of General Studies from 2012 to 2013. Since October, 2013, he has been Deputy Vice Chancellor at Madonna University Nigeria. He has held travel scholarships and research fellowships at Budapest, Bayreuth, Leiden, El Mina/Cape Coast and Frankfurt, including the Georg Forster Fellowship for Experienced Researchers of the Alexander Humboldt Foundation from 2010-2012 at the J. W. Goethe University. In the 2006/2007 academic year he was visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.  He is the President of the Nigerian Philosophical Association and the President of the International Society for African Philosophical Studies (ISAPS).
