Miguel Giusti is a peruvian philosopher, professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP), where he has held, among others, the positions of director of the Center for Philosophical Studies, head of the Department of Humanities and director of the philosophy journal Areté. He is currently director of the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights and coordinator of the Research Group on the Actuality of Hegel's Thought at PUCP, and vice-president for Latin America of COMIUCAP. He has been president of the Interamerican Society of Philosophy from 2004 to 2009. He studied philosophy at universities in Peru, Italy, France and Germany. He received his doctorate from the University of Tübingen under the direction of Rüdiger Bubner and was a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the universities of Frankfurt (under the direction of Jürgen Habermas) and Bochum/Hegel-Archiv (under the direction of Walter Jaeschke). He has specialized in the history of ethics, contemporary ethics and the philosophy of German idealism, subjects on which he has written or edited several books and published numerous articles.
