Maria Baghramian

Biography

Professor Maria Baghramian is a full professor of Philosophy at UCD School of Philosophy and a Professor II at the Department of Philosophy, University of Oslo. She is also the Co-Director of the UCD Postgraduate Programme in Cognitive Science, which she co-founded in 2000. Her current areas of research include Social Epistemology (trust and expertise), Epistemology (relativism, pluralism, truth), Contemporary American Philosophy (Putnam, Davidson, and Rorty), and topics in the philosophy of science.

Baghramian has held visiting posts at Harvard, MIT, University of Yerevan, Institut Jean Nicod, Paris, and various universities in China. She was elected to the Royal Irish Academy in 2010, to the International Institute of Philosophy in 2021, and to Academia Europaea in 2022. She is a member of the steering committee of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies. Her publications include 14 authored and edited books and numerous articles and book chapters.
