Sami Pihlström is Professor of Philosophy of Religion at the University of Helsinki, Finland, since 2014. He served as Professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Jyväskylä (2006-2014) and as the Director of the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (2009-2015). He was the President of the Philosophical Society of Finland in 2016-2024. He is an invited lifetime member of Academia Europaea (since 2015) and the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters (since 2017).
He has published widely (ca. 30 books and hundreds of articles) on pragmatism, ethics, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, transcendental philosophy, and philosophical anthropology.
